Holy Gallery

This small gallery is designed to choreograph the visual experience of the art displayed within. The skin of the gallery is perforated in such a way that the perforation only affords vision glass in one of the clockwise directions of travel around the building. This frames the art utilizing the technique of the picture window to draw the user within. Travel in the opposite direction eschews the visual connection with the gallery’s interior instead presenting the exterior of the building itself as a highly textured surface. In this way the building becomes an object of art unto itself. By choreographing these two experiences the typical tension of building distracting from art and art distracting from building is separated and thus each allowed to be equally celebrated without one experience overpowering the other.
