The new sculptural poles will enhance the travelers procession through the airport. Their shaping and placement create a sense of enclosure that pays homage to the surrounding aerodynamic forms. This sense of enclosure along the entire roadway shields the traveler’s view of the garage structures, replacing an old utilitarian sensibility with bold forms that capture the essence of flight. The new poles will light the road with an integral linear array of LEDs producing a more even and pleasant quality of light. While the technical and functional benefits of LEDs will be valuable to the airport for years to come, it is their sculptural quality of the new light poles that will dramatically improve the visitor experience.
